• Under supervision, responsible for following the sterilization process plan. Assist in cleaning instruments and ensuring all solutions and machines used during the process are in compliance of manufacturers’ instructions.
• Assist in decontaminating and sterilizing all processing supplies and equipment (reusable items, equipment and surgical) used for processing by the sterilization systems such as Steam, Ethylene Oxide (EtO) and hydrogen peroxide in accordance with international standards and manufactures’ instructions.
• Assist in inspecting the cleanliness, working functions and conditions of all products requiring sterilization including checking the product completion against pre-established checklists of product specification.
• Report all detected problems with the sterilization equipment and coordinate with immediate supervisor any maintenance, repair and replacement requirements, as necessary.
• Distribute and retrieve supplies and medical equipment to the medical related assigned areas (i.e. Operating Room, etc.).
• Assist in inspecting and preparing routine, complex and specialty surgical instrument trays (including multiple specialty implants) and other sterilized supplies. Assist in packaging all items in the applicable materials for processing and production including reusable linens.
• Participate in maintaining accurate, real-time quality assurance documentation (i.e. run the monitor including chemical and biological indicator monitors), document all items in loads and ensure that the load logs are accurate and complete. Act immediately by initiating Safety Reporting System (SRS) and/or instrument/equipment recalls where required should questionable monitor results be detected.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, hospital infection control and safety protocols to adhere to international standards, such as Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
• Ensure the standard precautions related to CSSD are implemented, including wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE), receiving and handling of contaminated instruments, chemical storage and usage. Ensure maintenance and safe operation of equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties.

Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential

• Work stream leads; routine daily contact with CSSD staff, hospital and clinic staff, and auxiliary medical personnel; occasional contact with clinicians.
• Work is subject to regular review for accuracy.

• Operating in safe manner to reduce risk of injuries.
• Might be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, etc.
