ASSISTANT CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRY

Principal Duties:

1. To provide high standard patient care in accordance with the NGHA mission, vision and values under the supervision of a consultant/Associate Consultant, Division of Psychiatry

1. To provide inpatient care of patients admitted to the hospital under the name of the Consultant with whom he/she works.

1. To participate in the delivery of health care to patients in the ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a consultant.  The head of the respective division determines the size and frequency of this participation.

1. To provide under the direct supervision of the consultant, a consultation service to other divisions within the Department and other departments within the hospital during the regular working and the on call hours.

1. To perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, qualification, experience according to the specific privileging condition approved by the Department and the organization.

1. To participate in on call coverage of his/her service in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Division of Psychiatry, the Department of Medicine and the organization.

1. To actively participate in the Quality improvement program of the Department of Medicine. 

1. To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of staff physicians and physicians in training (interns, residents, and fellows)

1. To participate in scientific research, contribute into the division of IM and department educational activities and postgraduate training programs, and to serve in committees as directed by the Division Head of IM, Department Chairman or the Executive Management of the organization.

1. To adhere to all rules and regulations of the division, department and organization.  Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the APPs and IPPs.

1. To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Division Head of Psychiatry or the Chairman of the Department of medicine.

1. To comply with all the professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff By Laws of the organization.

1. To show the expected respect, at all times, to patients, their families, colleagues, subordinates and all other members of the healthcare team.

1. To be culturally competent and religious sensitive in his/her clinical duties.
