Job Description
Principle Duties:
- To provide high-standards of care to geriatric patients or patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation.
- To provide inpatient care for the geriatric patients or patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation admitted to the hospital as the MRP or as the covering physician of the patient's MRP.
- To provide care to geriatric patients or patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation in the ambulatory care facility. The duration and frequency of this service is dictated by the needs and the regulations of the Division, Department and the organization.
- To provide geriatric medicine or physical medicine and rehabilitation consultation services to other divisions within the Department of Medicine and other departments within the organization during the regular working and the on-call hours.
- To perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures on the geriatric patients or patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, qualifications, experience and skills.
- To lead multidisciplinary team members for providing comprehensive care for geriatric patients or patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation.
- To participate in the On-Call coverage in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Department of Medicine and Division of Physical and Geriatric Medicine.
- To attend all the clinical, education, and patient welfare meetings of the Division of Physical and Geriatric Medicine.
- To optimally utilize resources, present continuous evidence of self-development and participate in Quality Improvement program of the Division of Physical and Geriatric Medicine and the Department of Medicine.
- To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinates especially those in training.
- To participate in scientific research, contribute into the departmental educational activities and postgraduate training programs and to serve in committees, multidisciplinary teams and taskforces as directed by the Head, Division of the Physical and Geriatric Medicine, Chairman of the Department or the Executive Management of the organization.
- To adhere to all rules and regulations of the organization. Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with all the APPs and IPPs.
- To perform relevant duties and charges as directed by the Head, Division of Physical and Geriatric Medicine as well as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine.
- To comply with all the professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff Bylaws of the organization.
- To show the expected respect, at all times, to patient, their families, colleagues, subordinates and all other members of the healthcare team.
Skills
Education:
Graduation from a medical school recognized by NGHA. Successful completion of structures accredited Residency Training/Subspecialty Fellowship Program acceptable to the NGHA. Certification by the appropriate Specialty Board approved by the Saudi Council of Health Specialties and acceptable to the NGHA.
Work Experience:
Total experience (training and post-training) should be equal to, or more than seven years. Should have a minimum of two years’ experience in a tertiary care center after certification. Of this, at least two years should be abroad in a program acceptable to the NGHA. Superior above average performance in areas of patient care and teaching/training activities (E). Productivity in medical research merits strong consideration. Publications in peer-reviewed journals are highly desirable (P).
