Job Description
• Advise healthcare professionals on infection control protocols. Provide evidence based infection control practices. Identify and implement evidence based infection control measures and strategies that restrain cost and use resources effectively. Utilize epidemiological and scientific evidence in evaluating and developing infection control. Identify infection control issues in relation to patient care product evaluation risk management.
• Promote and implement infection control guidelines/standards that improve patient outcome and reduce Healthcare associated infection. Prepare and maintain all aspects of automated surveillance data collection and distribution confidentiality.
• Develop and implement infection control strategies in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams that is effective and improve patient outcomes. Establish research projects to reduce healthcare associated infection (HAI) and promote quality Healthcare and verify hypothesis.
• Provide infection control reports and surveillance monitoring. Participate in the antibiotic stewardship program auditing and summarizing report data analysis; as well as product evaluation base on material safety data sheet and the appropriate international recommendation in chemical use, personal protective equipment, and evaluate the product base on its need and consider the cost effect of the product.
• Practice within the established hospital and department standards, policies and procedures. Demonstrate required nursing skills and knowledge of basic principles, strategies and tools of Quality Improvement to maintain privileging in the area of assignment. Meet the standards of care elements as approved for each nursing specialty.
• Ensure full compliance with all hospital safety precautions. Take direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations. Conduct environmental rounds, reinforce infection control practices and report any concerns regarding supplies and equipment maintenance.
• Develop an effective communication of infection control information from patient care areas. Ensure implementation of infection control standards that improve patient outcome by reducing risk of nosocomial infections. Ensure that policy and procedure product selection and all other aspects of infection control program are strictly followed.
• Promote and facilitate educational staff development programs. Facilitate education of patients and their visitors’ hygienic and community health measures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited institution – Essential; or
Diploma Degree in Nursing (Western standard for those who graduated before the availability of
Bachelor Degree) – Essential
Current licensure as a professional registered nurse – Essential
Certification in Infection Control – Preferred
Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 (five) years’ position-related practical experience in similar setting/ environment –
Essential
