Assistant Consultant Cardiac Surgery

Principal Duties:

l. Participate in the on-call duties as a first on-call covering mainly ER and cardiac surgical wards and other specialties.
2. Provide patient care in cardiac surgery to both inpatients and outpatients.
3. Participate in the educational activities and research works.
4. Participate in the CPR training, intubation and mechanical ventilation training.
5. Participate in the management of acutely ill patients presenting with acute cardiac surgical problems.
6. Perform duties on rotation to different cardiac surgical areas/services.
7. Must be flexible to do coverage as needed / called by a member of the cardiac surgery team.
8. Perform screening for new and follow-up cardiac surgical patients.
9. Participate in the supervision of resident rotating in cardiac surgical services as well as providing lectures. 
10. Initiate management action plan as required to all critically ill patients during on-call duties. 
ll. Participate in the Quality Management activities.
12. Participate in the laboratory aspects of cardiac surgery and others that might develop including intensive care. 
13. Must adhere to departmental and hospital procedures, policies and protocols.
14. Must be accountable to the Division Head and the Department Chairman to carry out the above task on a “higher professional level.” 

Education: 

1. Must have a Bachelor's degree of Medicine from a recognized medical school.
2. A registered member of the Saudi Board Council (essential).
3. Training certificate in specialized fields. 
4. A Board certified in Primary Specialty (Surgery)

Work Experience:

 Must have at least five (5) years of clinical experience in a recognized hospital/institution.

• English language skills: Level I-Essential.
• Arabic language skills: Preferred.
• Computer skills: Professional level- Essential.
