Principle Duties:
Patient Care; will be responsible under the supervision of the associate or consultant of palliative care to do the following:
• Inpatient service; initial assessment of patients admit to the palliative service, writing history and physical examination as well as treatment plan after discussing it with his consultant.
1. Write admission orders, including investigations and required medications
2. Participate in daily rounds
3. Does initial round prior to consultant round
4. Writes daily comprehensive progress notes
5. Arrange discharge for patients
• Outpatient service
1. Participates in the evaluation of new referrals in conjunction of the consultant
2. Sees fellow patients.
3. Sees patients who come as a drop-ins or who come unscheduled to treatment areas for minor problems and discuss with consultant
4. Will do home visit when necessary with the home program for palliative cases
• Consultation; will see patients as requested by different services after the admission to the wards and been stable medically ll. Education
• Participate in grand rounds
• Participate in weekly academic activities in the section
• Participate in journal club topics
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team meeting
• Bedside teaching of students, residents and fellows Research
• Enrollment of patients in approved clinical trials
• Participate in writing prospective trials
• Participate in the analysis and manuscript writing of prospective trials
• Participate in data collection and analysis of retrospective trials
• Participate in writing the abstracts of local and international meetings.
IV. Administration
Participate in departmental and hospital committees as determined by the head of the section of palliative service Participate in on-call Rota schedule
Participate in self and others education and training and development as applicable
Follows all hospital policies and procedures
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Education: Recognized basic medical degree, specialist qualification in family medicine, internal medicine, or oncology.
Work Experience: Two years experience in related fields
