Emergency Medical Technician

Respond to pre-hospital and in-hospital medical emergency calls directed by the dispatchers. Drive the ambulance to address or location given, using the most expeditious route. Assess the safety and hazards at the scene of an emergency. Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority for required emergency care. Render emergency medical and or trauma care to adults, children and infants based on assessment findings.

• If required provide additional care in triaging the injured in accordance with standard emergency procedures and the scope of practice. If required, place the patient on the stretcher in the ambulance ensuring that the patient and stretcher are secured.

• During transport, constantly assess the patient enroute to the emergency facility, administer additional medical care as indicated or directed by medical control or paramedic. Utilize specialized communication equipment to consult with physicians and/or notify hospitals of patient’s conditions.

• Assist in lifting and carrying the patient out of the ambulance and into the receiving medical facility. Report verbally and in writing, their observation and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene and in transit, to the receiving medical facility staff for purposes of records and diagnostics. Upon request and if the need arises, provide assistance to the receiving medical facility staff. • After each call restock and replace used linens, blankets and other supplies, clean all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures, make careful check of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run. Maintain ambulance in efficient operating condition. Ensure that the ambulance is clean and washed and kept in a neat orderly condition. After transport of patient with contagious infection or hazardous materials exposure, decontaminate the interior of the vehicle in accordance with regulations.

• Complete detailed documentation on patient care and transport (PCR).

• Attend continuing medical education (CME) on an ongoing basis to maintain licensing and/or certification and also standards of knowledge and skills. Attend professional development courses and participate in professional research programs. • Maintain an awareness of the patient’s physical, medical and cultural needs at all times. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Work Experience | Minimum of 1 (one) year related experience as EMT Basic or equivalent – Essential

Valid KSA driving license – Essential
Passing EMS skills evaluation assessment – Essential
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) – Essential
Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalent (local or international) – Preferred
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) – Preferred
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred

Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential

English Language |  Level – I – Essential

Computer : Level II – Essential

Diploma Degree in Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) or equivalent
