\"MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor, receive and process emergency calls, so that calls are acknowledged and all pertinent information is
gathered and assessed. Determine initial course for action, dispatching fire department apparatus and other
actions.
• Dispatch additional equipment or personnel to incidents as and if required.
• Provide logistical support to incident so that pertinent incident information is logged, responded to and
relayed.
• Maintain radio communication so that equipment is operational and information relayed through radio
equipment systems can be received and documented.
• Process incident documentation so that accurate and complete records are established.
• Maintain all emergency Fire Alarm Room equipment and facilitate so that Fire Alarm Room remains in an
operational state at all times.
• Maintain information systems so that information system is current, accurate, and readily accessible and that
back up information is secure.
• Receive and log reports of all occurrences such as emergency calls, movement of vehicles and officers, alarm
faults, isolations and reset, alarm tests and other items as required.
• Maintain Fire Alarm Room security so that no unauthorized access to the Operating Room is gained and public
assistance is provided in a courteous and timely manner.
• Responsible for receiving and sending tests of all mobile and portable radios, maintain a record of each test and
immediately report faults.
• Log movements of keys in and out of the key boxes.
• Answer administrative telephone calls and transfer to the appropriate extension lines.
• Ensure that the Alarm Room is never left unattended.
• Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform other job related duties.\"

\"REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Diploma Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Science or related discipline from an accredited institution – Essential; or High School with Certificate of Training in Fire Prevention or other relevant training courses or
equivalent (such as NFPA or Fire Prevention or Safety Management) from an accredited institution, or a comprehensive in-house training in combination with relevant ranking – Essential
Work Experience:
For High School graduate with relevant certificate:
Minimum of 2 (two) years’ position-related experience or structural firefighting experience in similar setting/environment – Essential
For Diploma degree holder:
Postgraduate training/SCDP – Essential
Experience as Alarm Room Operator/Dispatcher – Preferred
Competencies:
Knowledge of BLS and CPR – Essential
