ASSISTANT CONSULTANT OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

Principal Duties:

• Provides and controls list of team activities.

• Is the principal physician during morning rounds for planning and teaching.

• The Assistant Consultant should function as a daily mentor for the resident and utilize the time and cases presented to teach theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the team residents.

• Is the second on-call member when the on duty-call for Labor and Delivery Unit, Emergency Department and at night for the wards.

• The Associate/Assistant Consultant must update the team consultant of any new development in patients and seeks his/her opinion for any problems where decision should be taken.

• Should perform surgery together with Residents for teaching purposes.

• Should play a leading role in guiding residents in self-learning and research activities.

• Must set an example to residents with regard to all aspects of the role of a physician in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

• Takes part in formulation and review of policies and procedures for the division and department.

• Serves on committees as appointed by the head of the division or the departmental chairman.

• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Education

Must obtain the Saudi Board Certificate for Obstetrics and Gynecology or equivalent qualification recognized by the NGHA-E

Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years training and post training period. Superior or above average performance in the areas of patient care and teaching /training activities-E.
