Job Description
- Clean instruments and ensure all solutions and machines used during the process are in compliance of manufacturers’ instructions.
- Decontaminate and sterilize all processing supplies and equipment (reusable equipment and surgical) used for processing by the following sterilization systems: Steam, ETO and hydrogen peroxide.
- Undertake and ensure that all reusable items are decontaminated and sterilized in accordance with international standards and manufactures instructions.
- Inspect the cleanliness, working functions and conditions of all products requiring sterilization.
- Check product completion against pre-established checklists or product specification.
- Maintain reports of defective equipment and submit to the attention of the immediate supervisor for the appropriate action.
- Distribute and retrieve supplies and medical equipment only to the Operating Room.
- Inspect and prepare routine, complex and specialty surgical instrument trays (including multiple specialty implants) and other sterilized supplies. Package all items in the applicable materials for processing and production including reusable linens.
- Maintain accurate, real time Quality Assurance documentation i.e., run the monitor (including chemical and biological indicator monitors), document all items in loads and ensure that the load logs are accurate and complete. Act immediately by initiating SRS and/or instrument/equipment recalls where required should questionable monitor results be detected.
- Report any incidents and/or matters for SRS to be documented to the immediate superior for the appropriate actions.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, hospital infection control and safety protocols to adhere
- to international standards, such as AAMI, APIC, AORN, OSHA and FDA.
- Ensure the standard precautions related to CSSD are implemented, including wearing of personal protective
- equipment (PPE), receiving and handling of contaminated instruments, chemical storage and usage.
- Ensure maintenance and safe operation of equipment.
- Perform other job related duties as required.

Education| Diploma Degree in Sterilization, Hospital Sterilization Management, CSSD Or Bachelor Degree from College of Science with a recognized CSSD related certificate by SCFHS–Essential
Recognized CSSD-related certificate by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
Skills
- Work stream leads; routine daily contact with CSSD staff, hospital and clinic staff, and auxiliary medical personnel; occasional contact with clinicians
- Work is performed under supervision, subject to regular review for accuracy
