Job Description

1.   To provide high-standard patient care in accordance with the MNGHA mission, mission and values in Neurology within the Neurology Department

2. To provide inpatient care for the stroke patients admitted to the hospital either as the MRP or as the covering physician during rest hours, weekends, holidays or vacations of the MRP, accepting the inconvenience associated with the patient needs.

3. To provide care to stroke patients in the ambulatory care facility. The duration and frequency of this service is dictated by the need and the regulations of the organization, the Neurology Department, Stroke & Cerebrovascular Diseases

 4. To provide stroke consultations services to other divisions within the Neurology Department and other Departments within the organization during the regular working hours and the on call hours.

5. To perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures in patients with neurological disorders for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, qualifications, experience and skills.

6. To participate in interpreting and reporting the neurological procedures such as EEG, Evoked Potential and Nerve  Conduction study, and to perform EMG.

7. To participate in the on-call coverage in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Neurology Department

8. To actively participate in Quality Improvement program of the department.

9. To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinates and to provide them with a role model especially those in training.

10. To supervise the Neurophysiology Technologist and train them in her/his field of experience

11. To serve in divisional, departmental and organizational committees appointed by the Director, Chairman, Department of Neurology or the Executive Management of the organization

12. To participate in scientific research, contribute into the division and department educational activities and post graduate training programs in Neurology or Internal Medicine, as well as education for Neurophysiology trainees.

13. To adhere to all rules and regulations of the Division, department and organization. Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the DPPs and IPPs.

14. To comply with all the professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff Bylaws of the organization.

15. To attend all the clinical, educational, and patient welfare meetings of the division, as established by the division.  Attendance of the general activities of the Neurology Department is also considered an important component of the job of the Neurology consultant

16. To show the expected respect, at all times, to patient, their families, colleagues, subordinates and all other members of the healthcare team.

17. To perform other relevant duties and tasks as directed by the Director of Stroke or the Chairman of the Neurology Department

Education: 

Graduation from a medical school recognized by MNGHA.  Successful completion of a structured accredited Residency Training in Neurology Subspecialty Fellowship Program acceptable to the MNGHA.  Certification by the appropriate Specialty Board  in the Specialty of Neurology approved by the Saudi Council of Health Specialties and acceptable to the MNGHA.

Work Experience:

 Minimum of   7    Total experience (training and post-training) should be equal to, or more than seven (7) years.  Should have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a tertiary care center in the appropriate specialty after certification. Superior or above average performance in areas of patient care and teaching/training activities (E).  Productivity in medical research merits strong consideration.  Publications in peer reviewed journals are highly desirable (P).
