Job Description
• Participate in incoming inspection, installation and commissioning of all incoming healthcare
technology/equipment into the hospital and off-site clinics.
• Conduct and document planned preventive first-line maintenance following approved Planned Preventive
Maintenance (PPM) procedures, performance checks, corrective maintenance and demand service repairs on
new and existing equipment in the hospital and off-site clinics in the most cost-effective way according to
departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
• Record and complete the necessary documentation, manually and in the Equipment Database, of all
maintenance activities PPMs, repairs, incoming inspections and modifications.
• Responsible for calibration and performance of essential healthcare technology, the failure of which could
directly affect the operation of essential services of the health facility.
• Conduct quality assurance rounds, as assigned by the Supervisor, in areas of responsibility to assess equipment
safety and function and to discuss with users any issues of mutual concern.
• Perform necessary action to minimize hazard and risks associated with healthcare technology use, and ensure
corrective action and documentation recommended or issued by manufacturers and regulating agencies.
• Apply conventional technical principles to modify, install and correct malfunctions on basic healthcare
technology.
• Operate specialized test equipment in troubleshooting, calibrating and maintaining medical equipment.
• Coordinate, monitor, and work with vendor’s service representative on new equipment installations, and
equipment warranty, demand and full service contracts.
• Order PPM and repair parts as required. Identify the requirements to assure adequate parts inventory.
• Respond to emergency calls after working hours through an established On-Call System.
• Attend training courses on healthcare technology service as required. Transfer the knowledge gained during the
training to other staff members through formal communication.
• Provide recommendations as required, on the safe and proper use of healthcare technology/equipment to the
hospital’s medical, nursing and technical staff.
• Perform other HTM activities such as planning and costing their work, keeping a record of work, training
equipment users, reading manuals and drawings, and monitoring demand or full service contracts of healthcare
technology/equipment.
• Apply relevant codes and standards related to the health environment and safety.
• Apply environmental technical principles to modify, install and correct malfunctions on basic healthcare
technology.
• Responsible for the care and safekeeping of assigned and pooled tools and test instruments.
• Perform other job related duties.
