Ophthalmology Technician

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for providing assistance to Ophthalmologists by collecting patients’ data and medical history and conducting simple eye examinations and tests as directed such as Visual Acuity, Intraocular pressure, Visual field, Ophthalmic photographs, Optical coherence tomography (OCT), and Corneal topography.
• Consult and liaise with Ophthalmologists to acquire resolution for issues relating to patient care. Explain diagnostic and treatment procedures to patients as directed.
• Promote a positive and collaborative atmosphere with members of the healthcare team; attend departmental and other meetings, and contribute input and feedback to support departmental activity, as appropriate.
• Assist in maintaining all records pertaining to the assigned area.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with infection control protocols, emergency plans and safety standards.
• Ensure optimal utilization of resources; implement quality improvement to achieve optimal patient results. Ensure safe and efficient working equipment, reporting faults and problems through the appropriate channels.
• Perform other job related duties.
