Job Description

• Provide general optometric eye examinations with the guidance of the senior clinical staff using specific
technological optometry tools and equipment; test the level of a patient’s vision, analyze results, diagnose and
treat ocular issues and diseases such as farsightedness and glaucoma; provide patients with a vision prescription
to ascertain the needed corrective lenses; and remove foreign objects from patient’s eye, as necessary.
• Participate in discussing options with patients such as contact lenses, reading glasses and other types of
corrective lenses and educate on proper cleansing of contacts, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and other
preventive vision care.
• Participate in evaluating patient's general eye health by screening for diseases affecting the eye or other health
issues such as diabetes and refer to other healthcare providers as necessary for specific treatment. Act as the
primary liaison between other health care services and the optometry services when required.
• Participate and ensure the organization keeps abreast with development and advancement in technology and
procedures within the area of specialization in accordance with the international standards and MNGHA policies
and procedures.
• Cooperate and liaise with Healthcare Technology Management for calibration, repair, modification and
maintenance of all optometry equipment/tools.
• Participate in developing and implementing written teaching tools and educational materials for patient
education in and outside the hospital, as required.
• Implement and evaluate of protocols and procedures to ensure quality of optometry care for inpatients and
outpatients.
• Attend relevant committees requiring participation of optometry as assigned. Participate in multi-disciplinary
meetings as required.
• Conduct and participate in research studies related to optometry performed in the Hospital as required.
• Secure workload as back up of the absent colleagues.
• Collect, maintain and interpret record of workload measurement data and clinical statistics on an ongoing basis.
• Perform other job related duties.
