Pharmacy Technician I

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review prescriptions, prepare medications by mixing and dispensing orally-administered medications, measuring dosages or unit-dosing tablets from a bulk bottle and label the prepared medication.
• Compound intravenous (IV) solutions as per the prescription requirements.
• Set-up Total Parenteral Nutrition.
• Pass all filled prescriptions to responsible pharmacist for verification as per standard procedure and preform the proper documentation as required.
• Sort, stock, and monitor inventory.
• Monitor expiration dates of pharmaceuticals.
• Sterilize surfaces, counters, hoods and equipment.
• Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records in line with local laws and internal
  policies and procedures.
• Comply with all security measures and quality standards. Maintain knowledge of drug dispensing laws and uphold drug knowledge and assessment and superior attention to detail.
• Monitor and document the fridge, room temperature and humidity as per internal policy and procedure.
• Repackage and barcode-label medication.
• Provide training and mentorship to subordinate/new staff, pharmacy residents and/or pharmacy interns.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.

• Must have all filled prescriptions verified by pharmacist

• Most of the workday will be spent on the feet
• Might be required to lift heavy boxes or use stepladders to retrieve supplies from high shelves
• Might be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, etc.
